発電所跡を利用した現代美術館「テート・モダン（Tate Modern）」 − ロンドン旅行
「テート・モダン（Tate Modern）」は、元「バンクサイド発電所（Bankside Power Station）」という火力発電所だった建物を利用し、2000年にオープンした国立の近現代美術館です。
2016年6月17日には、新たな建物「スイッチ・ハウス」も開館。
テムズ川沿いの散歩の途中に、ちょっと寄ってみました。

今回は「テート・モダン（Tate Modern）」 です。
「ミレニアム・ブリッジ（Millennium Bridge）」から眺めました。
後ろの建物が、2016年6月17日に開館した「スイッチ・ハウス」。
こちらの橋「ミレニアム・ブリッジ（Millennium Bridge）」は、2000年6月に完成しましたが、ひどい横揺れのために一時閉鎖され、2002年2月に再開されました。
入館は無料（一部企画展は除く）で、特に手荷物検査もなく、中に入りました。
無料の展示は「ボイラー・ハウス（BOILER HOUSE）」の２階〜４階の一部です。
なお「スイッチ・ハウス（SWITCH HOUSE）」の10階にある無料展望台は、新たな観光スポットのようです。
